About Acrewood Daycare

BELFAST CHILDCARE & NURSERY ON THE GROSVENOR ROAD

Have you been searching for experienced 'Belfast Childcare'?  Then look no further than Acrewood Daycare.   Founded in 2020, Acrewood Daycare was designed to create an inclusive, community-based childcare centre to support children and families.  We are a small service registered for a maximum of 40 places, so this enables us to know, understand and nurture every child as an individual.

Our staff have a broad range of experience in day care and education, giving us the skills and knowledge to support your child regardless of their age and stage of development.  More importantly our staff care passionately about giving each child the best possible care, nurturing and encouraging every area of development through a range of fun and stimulating activities designed to enhance learning.

Our Goals

Nurture every child’s potential through personalised, inclusive care.

Empower families with affordable, accessible, high-quality childcare.

Build strong, trusted relationships through community and connection.

WHAT MAKES US SPECIAL AT ACREWOOD DAYCARE?

As a service based within St. Joseph’s Centre for the Deaf, our mission is to create an inclusive, supportive learning environment where all children can learn and thrive including those with developmental delay or additional needs.

Our Belfast Childcare curriculum supports individual learning and support programmes for children based upon their unique needs and our staff have extensive experience supporting children with additional needs.

We also have bespoke resources and spaces designed specifically for children who might need additional support and thanks to funding from the Fair Play Programme we have additional staff support for children who need a little more support and encouragement.

ENHANCED LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES AT ACREWOOD DAYCARE

Our environment is bright, spacious & well equipped with 3 separate learning environments matched to the age and stage of development of the children attending.  These include 0-2; 2-3 and 3-4 year olds.  We also have a large indoor space for physical play designed to support your child’s gross motor skills, speech language and communication skills.

We are proud to be community based and are committed to embracing the wider community resources.  We regularly take regular trips to places of interest in the local area and beyond.  Recently we have visited the urban farm, City Hall and the zoo.  All of our trips are planned to enhance learning opportunities for our children and are risk assessed to ensure they are safe and accessible for all.

BELFAST CHILDCARE: OUR CURRICULUM

Our curriculum is varied and stimulating and is focused on both the group and each individual child.  It is built around clear learning intentions designed to support your child to develop and reach their full potential and is overseen by our senior management team who have a wealth of experience in this area.  However, it is also designed to be fun, because when children are relaxed and enjoying themselves they are more open to learning.

We value parents as partners and arrange activities that include the whole family such as special events and stay and play sessions.  We also use the Famly app to maintain contact with our parents and provide daily updates and pictures to show what the children are doing.

Reviews from Parents

“Our little girl has had the best experience at Acrewood. Staff were understanding and experienced in helping her transition to the daycare when she was 11 months old. Now she is 3 years old and has made so many friends amongst the children and staff. She enjoys all the activities, outings to the park, and field trips. There is a great combination of play and education for toddlers, we love that she has new activities to try everyday. It's a great option for any staff working at the Royal Hospital, a very convenient location."

"Our son attended Acrewood and we couldn’t be more pleased as parents. They provide the best atmosphere and activities to develop the children in such important stage of their lives.  The staff are so caring, loving & special that we really felt like it was our son’s home away from home!  We can comfortably say that Acrewood was so far, the best decision we ever made regarding our son!”

Martin (e-mail)

“I cannot recommend the team at Acrewood more highly. Our children started in Acrewood following a negative experience in another setting. We were so nervous but the team were so reassuring and caring. The team have been so supportive to us, whilst attending the creche both our children have received a diagnosis of autism and the support we have received from everyone at Acrewood has been incredible."
