A question which parents tend to ask time and time again is how can i find afforable childcare in Belfast?  Belfast Live on the 27th May 2025 reported that the Education Minister - Paul Givan has published data highlighting the Northern Ireland Childcare Subsidy Scheme’s impact in reducing childcare costs for working families.

Launched in September 2024, the scheme supports working parents who are eligible for Tax-Free Childcare (TFC) and using registered childcare. The Childcare Subsidy Scheme provides a 15% saving on eligible childcare costs, with Tax-Free Childcare offering an additional 20% reduction.
The average cost of full-time childcare in Northern Ireland is £1,054 per month, but this can be reduced to approximately £739 per month after the NICSS and TFC reductions have been applied.
